Dennis Cooper, Research Director, Networking Technologies Laboratory, CSIRO ICT Centre
Dr Dennis Cooper has been a visionary in many of the important developments in radiophysics, telecommunication, IT and electronic engineering (and has) taken part in some of the major Australian initiatives, bridging the gap between laboratory and industry and having the courage to redirect research effort into rewarding areas when financial restraints prevented support in more pure research fields. The soundness of his strategic and technical judgments can be measured by the successes of the CSIRO Divisions with which he has been associated. Dr Cooper's self-effacing manner and quiet achievement has focused on ensuring success for others without seeking or securing personal reward or benefit from such ventures.
