» ABOUT REWIND FAST FORWARD
In the Beginning..... there was AARNet, Connect, Pegasus. Then came Ozemail, ecorp, Looksmart, Spike, etrade, Sausage Software, Liberty One.......... And the commercial beginning was only 10 years ago! It is around 10 years since the birth of Netscape, Amazon, Yahoo! and Java. Closer to home we see Fairfax and the ABC celebrating 10 years online this year. And we thought - how amazing! How much has the world changed? And how much more is it going to change over the next ten years? So we thought we would plan a day to celebrate ten years of the Internet going mainstream. I want to thank Peter Coroneos, Executive Director of the Internet Industry Association, Philip Alexander, Chairman of the Internet Industry Association and Sandra Davey, President of the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association for their help with the Forum. It is of course impossible to involve everyone we had on our long list of potential speakers and many of the sessions we planned did not get off the ground. We do hope the event will enable some lively discussion about the business models likely to emerge in the future. It will be a wonderful opportunity to remember from where the Internet came. Attendees will gain a greater understanding of where we are heading as we look at the trends, opportunities, business models, challenges, technologies and environments of the Internet's tomorrow. Rewind Fast Forward is going to be a great time to catch up with old colleagues and industry friends. I personally am looking forward to catching up with many people during the day. See you there!
